Rebuilt from Memories - Syria before the war in VR - Arthelps

War stripped Syrian people from the places where they lived and built their memories. ARTHELPS is rebuilding these spaces from Instagram pictures through the use of photogrammetry. A touching project that aims to keep the testimony of pre-war Aleppo alive.

With “Rebuilt From Memories” ARTHELPS and the German advertising agency Jung von Matt reconstruct life in Aleppo before the war – in a virtual reality experience created with photogrammetry from Instagram pictures.

The project gives you a view into the collective memory of Aleppo before the war: The cultural life at destroyed historical sites reconstructed from instagram pictures.

In 360° videos and VR you can revisit the Great Mosque, the Citadel of Aleppo and the Souk Saqatiya.

This was achieved together with creatives, artists and developers from Jung von Matt and Exozet.
